The head of the German Economy Ministry, Robert Merz, said he did not rule out granting Rosneft an exception from the sanctions.
“We will discuss this issue with the Americans. I think Rosneft will get an exception,” Merz said. Reuters.

Previously, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, as well as dozens of their subsidiaries. The ministry explained that the restrictions were introduced “due to Russia's lack of full commitment to the peace process.”
