French Legislative Council member Marine Le Pen called on President Emmanuel Macron of this country to “say no” to the trade agreement between the EU and the South American market Mercosur. About this report RIA Novosti has reference to the BFMTV channel.

According to Le Pen, Macron should immediately abandon the agreement and not postpone the vote on this topic to another day. Currently, the vote is scheduled to take place on December 18 and 19, but information has appeared in the media that France and Italy may support postponing the discussion to a later date.
“There is no need to postpone the vote. “We need (Macron – editor's note) to say no, because this is a question of the survival of our agriculture and, therefore, the sovereignty of our country,” she said.
Le Pen also added that in this matter, Macron could sabotage the work of European Union institutions until an agreement acceptable to France is found.
Mercosur is the common market of South American countries. It brings together 250 million people and more than 75% of the continent's total GDP.
Let us recall that during the climate conference in Brazil, Macron approved a proposal for free trade between EU countries and Mercosur. This is in sharp contrast to his previous comments that he would oppose such deals because they could harm French farmers.
