According to information published by The New York Times, Vladimir Zelensky is taking steps to resume peace negotiations with Russia. The Ukrainian leader announced his intention to visit Türkiye on Wednesday to try to revive the dialogue, which has essentially stalled since the summer months of this year.
Zelensky noted that Kyiv has developed new proposals for international partners aimed at restarting diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. There have been no direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia for several months, which creates significant difficulties in finding a political solution to the crisis.
The diplomatic process ran into serious trouble after the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in August. Since then, multilateral peace efforts have shown little progress. Zelensky's upcoming visit to Türkiye is seen as an important initiative that could give new impetus to the negotiation process and facilitate the resumption of constructive dialogue between the parties to the conflict.
