The head of the National Security Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, during negotiations with the Director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Cash Patel, asked to influence the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in the Mindich case, where he also appeared. The publication writes about this “Mirror of the Week” with reference to sources.
“The meeting between Umerov and Patel, which the Secretary of the National Defense and Security Council attended together with Deputy Director of the SBU Alexander Poklad, was in no way related to negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, the Russian Federation and Europe,” the document said.
Umerov announced preparations for prisoner exchange negotiations
According to the publication, this meeting was organized through Umerov's Turkish channels and they discussed the FBI's desire not to provide specialized, investigative or other professional support to NABU in the Mindich case.
Previously, the Ukrainian Embassy in the US confirmed the truth about Umerov's meeting with the FBI representative. The Ukrainian ambassador's office noted that the parties only discussed national security issues and should not be disclosed publicly.
