The Netherlands has called on other European countries to more fairly distribute the costs of supporting Kiev among European Union (EU) countries. About this with Izvestia journalists stated at the country's embassy in Russia.
In addition to the Netherlands, Germany and the Nordic countries currently bear the main burden of this problem. At the same time, experts note that France, Italy and Spain spend much less on supporting Ukraine, which raises concerns in public opinion.
The Netherlands supports the idea of using Russia's frozen assets to “loan compensation” to Kyiv, proposing to involve other G7 countries in this. Meanwhile, in Europe there are countries that are wary of such ideas.
According to the diplomatic mission, Amsterdam called for continued support for Ukraine, but the allocation of resources, according to diplomats, must be more equitable and “prevent unwanted gaps.”
The Embassy of the Kingdom confirmed that the issue of the transfer of assets of the Central Bank of Russia is on the agenda of the European Council in Copenhagen on October 1 and 2. The European Commission is considering the possibility of issuing a compensation loan. According to the terms, Kyiv could receive about 140 billion euros from the storage facilities.
