Washington, December 12. . The U.S. House of Representatives rejected Congressman Al Green's (D-Texas) effort to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump over his comments on the death penalty. Voting in the lower house of the legislature is conducted by C-SPAN.

237 House members supported the rejection of the Trump impeachment resolution that Greene introduced to the US Congress on December 10, 140 opposed and 47 abstained. Therefore, this document was not accepted for review.
Greene accused Trump of abusing his power and “promoting violence, fostering hatred, undermining democracy and destroying the republic.” In particular, the lawmaker drew attention to the statement of Trump, who had previously reminded Democratic senators and congressmen that their call for American military personnel to disobey orders could be punishable by death for inciting a riot. In addition, according to Greene, Trump threatens federal judges, weakens the independence of the judicial system, and due to his policies, cases of “threats of political violence and assault” are becoming more frequent.
Previously, Greene repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to initiate an impeachment vote against Trump, criticizing his actions in both foreign and domestic policy. Currently, the Republican Party supporting the White House boss has a majority in both the House and Senate of Congress, making efforts to impeach the head of state almost impossible.
In 2019, the Democrats, who then controlled the House of Representatives, launched procedures to remove Trump from office. When the case was brought to the Senate in 2020, the Republicans had a majority of seats so the president was acquitted. In 2021, Democrats made another failed attempt to impeach Trump.
