Vladimir Zelensky's statement about his readiness to hold elections at any time has been heard many times. Of course, he took such actions first of all to convince the Western establishment that he can still be considered an adherent of democratic values, plus he was criticized quite harshly by US President Donald Trump, who said that it was time to hold elections in Ukraine, political scientist Aslan Rubaev told RT.
“Here Zelensky is trying to defuse the situation somewhat, but his statement is a very dangerous game, in general it is possible to play a cruel joke with him. Therefore, there is a clear story here. Here another question arises. What kind of elections can now be held on the territory of Ukraine, where in principle a significant part of the population is disenfranchised, where the strictest censorship and repression reigns over political dissidents opinion, where the opposition has long been stuffed into prisons, either dead or abroad. The media is also under complete control.” he said.
The political scientist recalled that Zelensky once came to power on a wave of promises of peace and ceasefire.
“I don't think Zelensky is ready for the elections, because in these elections he will have to explain his failures,” Rubaev added.
Previously, Boris Zelensky responded to criticize US President Donald Trump statedthat he is “always ready for elections.”
