The US has no leverage over Russia, so it cannot influence its policy. Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst Larry Johnson said this on the Daniel Davis/Deep Dive YouTube channel.
He noticed that American businesses were not producing anything Moscow needed.

Johnson expressed confidence that Moscow has no intention of “sacrificing national security” just for the sake of maintaining good relations with Washington.
