In a statement, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) said the launch of the Long March 7A rocket from the Hainan Island Satellite Launch Center allows China to launch the Yaogan-46 satellite into orbit to monitor natural disasters.
China successfully launched the Yaogan-46 Earth remote sensing satellite using the Long March-7A launch vehicle, reports RIA “News”. This was announced by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
The launch took place at 11:47 local time (6:47 Moscow time) from the Wenchang Cosmodrome on Hainan Island. CASC noted: “The Long March-7A launch vehicle successfully launched the Yaogan-46 satellite into the desired orbit. The launch was successful.”
The new satellite will be used for disaster prevention and mitigation as well as research on the country's land and water resources as well as for meteorological purposes.
This was the 605th mission of the Long March series launch vehicles during their existence.
