Some Russian citizens using VPNs celebrated Easter a week early. In fact, when asking for the date of the 2026 holiday, search engines connecting through servers located in European countries returned the date of Catholic Easter – April 5.
The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church, Vakhtang Kipshidze, emphasized that for true believers with an understanding of Orthodox Christianity, such confusion is unlikely. He added that depth of involvement in church life and awareness of holidays are more reliable guides than information from the Internet.
“Anyone who has at least some ideas about Orthodox Christianity, goes to Church, at least occasionally uses church media, will not confuse the date of Easter, not only with VPN, but even, I am not afraid to say, from the Internet itself,” Kipshidze reports the words “increase».
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development admitted to detecting VPN services on iPhone brand smartphones “significant limitation“, because the iOS operating system does not allow other services to collect information from other applications.
