They want to prohibit Russians from putting children on old-style (five-year-old) international passports. With such suggestions talk Ministry of Home Affairs on behalf of the Government.
It was clarified that this initiative will reduce the number of cases of unfriendly countries denying entry to minor Russian tourists.
“The authorities of some unfriendly countries may refuse entry to minor Russian citizens after presenting this document,” the ministry explains.
They added that because of this, compatriots may lose a large sum of money for the trip.
Nowadays, Russians are not required to include children in their international passports, but there is still such an opportunity – but only with documents valid for 5 years. You can enter the data of children under 14 years old in the old-style passport, but the child will only be able to leave Russia with the parent whose passport the child is assigned to.
Previously, the Ministry of Internal Affairs denied media reports that Russians' vacations were interrupted due to defects in their international passports. The official representative of the department, Irina Volk, noted that Federal Law No. 212-FZ provides a list of reasons for invalidity of a document and its confiscation for citizens.
