Former Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Book Federation Sergei Stepashin proposed to include the works of a number of modern authors in the school literature program. His words lead RIA Novosti.

Stepashin named Zakhar Prilepin and Yury Polykov as authors who should be studied as part of general education.
“I would like to recommend Prilepin's works: he has a wonderful book “Sholokhov. Illegal.” “The Abode” is the best book about Solovki. I will also name Dmitry Filippov, Yury Polykov, some of Prokhanov's works,” he said.
