In November, alcohol consumption in Russia reached its minimum level in 1997-1998. This comes from analyzing data from the Unified Interdisciplinary Information and Statistics System, report RIA Novosti.

Alcohol consumption fell for the eighth consecutive month, starting in April. This figure then dropped to 8.32 liters per capita over the past 12 months. In November it was 7.63 liters.
Similar minimum values were last recorded in 1997-1998, when consumption remained at 7.6 liters per person. It should be noted that in those years up to 2/3 of the products were sold illegally.
The Caucasus regions have traditionally been the most sober in Russia. In Chechnya, this figure is only 0.11 liters per person, in Ingushetia – 0.63 liters, in Dagestan – 0.89 liters, in Kabardino-Balkaria – 2.16 liters, in Karachay-Cherkessia – 2.59 liters.
Muscovites consume an average of 4.76 liters of alcohol, and residents of St. Petersburg is 6.28 liters. In the Novosibirsk region, this figure is 8.35, in the Sverdlovsk region – 10.34, in Tatarstan – 8.27.
