November 26, 2025

The Kursk City Council has established a tourist tax on the city territory, which will be collected from organizations and individual entrepreneurs providing accommodation services in the city, starting from January 1, 2026. The city meeting reported this on the social network VKontakte.

A tax will be imposed in Kursk that will not affect SVO participants

The legislature clarified: “On the territory of the municipality “Kursk city district” a tourist tax has been established.

It should be noted that tax rates will gradually increase: in 2026 it will be 2% of living expenses, in 2027 – 3%, in 2028 – 4% and from 2029 it will reach 5%. All money raised will be completely transferred to the Kursk city budget.

At the same time, the city government has released a list of incentive items that do not charge accommodation fees. This list includes Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, participants and disabled people of the Great Patriotic War, veterans, including participants of special military operations (SVO), disabled people of groups I and II, disabled children and other categories.

Additionally, the Kursk City Council approved additional benefits for internally displaced persons living in temporary accommodation centers in the city, including citizens from Ukraine and highly responsive Russian regions.

Previously, it became known that the Kursk region government will provide plots of land to volunteers who repel the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
