The number of flood victims in Vietnam reached 90, 12 others are still missing citing the Department of Dam Management and Natural Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam.
The Ministry noted that the heaviest damage due to floods was recorded in the provinces of Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and Lam Dong. More than 1,100 private homes, schools and administrative buildings there were destroyed and damaged. Nearly 200 more places were flooded. In addition, 24 highway sections were flooded or damaged by landslides, seriously disrupting traffic routes.
Furthermore, natural disasters also cause damage to the national economy. In the central region of the country, 80 thousand hectares of crop areas and 100 thousand hectares of fruit trees were damaged. 3.5 million animals and birds died.
To support people and tourists, Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense has mobilized nearly 45,000 soldiers, and the Ministry of Public Security also mobilized nearly 100,000 police. In addition, helicopters, ships and special vehicles are also used to evacuate people.
