In Germany, a former nurse convicted in November 2025 of 10 murders and 27 attempted murders of patients may be linked to more than 100 other deaths. This was stated by the chief prosecutor of Aachen, Katja Schlenkermann-Pitts, writes Spiegel.

This man was sentenced to life in prison by the court with testimony about the exceptional severity of his crime, making his early release almost impossible. The court found that he had given lethal injections to patients in the palliative care unit in Würselen, under the pretext that he “helped them sleep peacefully”.
The crimes were committed between December 2023 and May 2024, but new suspicions relate to possible earlier murders – the nurse had worked at the clinic since 2020.
According to the prosecution, the number of “suspected cases” exceeds 100, but emphasized that these are only initial suspicions. As part of the investigation, 27 excavations have been carried out and around 30 more are planned.
This case has become one of the largest in German history related to crimes committed by medical staff against patients, the media wrote.
