In Vladivostok, the court recovered from the “crab king” Oleg Kan 4.2 billion rubles of state revenue. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

The amount recovered is equivalent to the cost of crab smuggling.
Kan was convicted of forming and leading a criminal community, smuggling strategically important resources, evading customs duties and organizing revenge against an employed businessman. He was sentenced in absentia to 24 years in a maximum security colony.
Kahn's lawyers filed a petition with the court to dismiss the case because their client had passed away. However, the Prosecutor General's Office considered the death of the businessman staged.
