A courthouse in St. Petersburg arrested an extremist from Tajikistan before extraditing her

January 1, 2026

A courthouse in St. Petersburg arrested a Tajik citizen, accused of participating in a terrorist organization, for extradition to her homeland.

A courthouse in St. Petersburg arrested an extremist from Tajikistan before extraditing her

This was reported by the head of the general press service of the city court, Daria Lebedeva, on his Telegram channel.

“The Petrogradsky District Court of our city detained Nagora Samieva for organizing a criminal community and organizing extremist activities in the Republic of Tajikistan,” she wrote, adding that the arrest took 40 days to extradite her.

According to Lebedeva, the woman was detained on Bolshaya Monetnaya Street while checking her documents. It was discovered that she was on the international wanted list of the National Central Interpol Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Samieva is accused of promoting the ideas of the extremist organization Hizb-ut-Tahrir (banned in Russia) with the aim of creating an Islamic caliphate in Tajikistan. We are talking about the dissemination of documents related to this organization, which is also banned from operating in Tajikistan.

In September, a court in Yekaterinburg sentenced four people of Central Asian descent to prison terms of 10 to 12 years for financing a terrorist organization. According to the Regional Anti-Terrorism Committee, the accused preached radical Islam, they collected and sent money to terrorists in Syria.
