Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment in the Resident Evil series, is coming out in just a few months. PC Gamer Portal speakWhat is known about the game at the moment.

Game release date
Capcom announced that Resident Evil Requiem will be released February 27, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2. Thus, the waiting time for release will be relatively short.
Plot details
The main character of Requiem is Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst and the daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, one of the heroines of 2003's Resident Evil Outbreak.
Grace is assigned to investigate a murder where the victim was found in an abandoned hotel – the same place where her mother was murdered eight years ago. She goes to the hotel looking for answers, but finds out even more than she expected as the case leads to “the real cause of the epidemic in Raccoon City”.
Apparently, the events of Requiem will once again return players to Raccoon City, but the developers have yet to officially confirm how many years later – the incidents from Resident Evil 1-3 originally occurred in September 1998. However, based on the information available, reasonable assumptions can be made. Grace was born after 1998 and is at least 23 years old; This is the minimum age requirement for FBI agents. And her mother is still alive as of 2016 – a time frame that can be determined from her article appearing in Resident Evil 7.
That means the plot of Requiem actually takes place in the present – or at least starting in 2024.
Additionally, many fans theorize that the return to Raccoon City will coincide with the appearance of another important character in the series: Leon Kennedy. The theories have been fueled by Easter eggs in the game's launch trailer: some players are certain that Leon's jeep was parked at the Raccoon City police station, and the video features a voice clip that bears a strong resemblance to Nick Apostolides, the actor who played Leon in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 4.
Mechanics, gameplay and puzzles
Based on the trailer, many fans believe that Requiem has followed the formula of Resident Evil 7: a very dark beginning, darkness, invulnerable enemies lurking. But game director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed that Requiem will stick to classic survival horror traditions. According to the developer, the new product is closer to Resident Evil 2 than the more “action-oriented” 4.
However, there will be weapons in the game – Grace will not be completely defenseless. She will be able to use at least one pistol, and Nakanishi mentioned that the heroine's animations will change depending on the weapon she is holding.
However, weapons won't help much in boss battles. In Requiem, the emphasis is more on exploring enclosed spaces and overcoming obstacles with cunning rather than brute force. The player can also switch between first-person and third-person camera views at any time.
