The long list of nominees for the Best Video Game Award at the BAFTA Games Awards 2025 has been announced in London. More than 1,700 BAFTA members selected 64 games in 17 categories.

Chair of the BAFTA Games Council, Tara Saunders, said: “The shortlists for the BAFTA Games Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship behind this year's newest games. They showcase a wide range of games to enjoy this festive season, celebrate the teams behind these brilliant projects and celebrate the incredible craftsmanship across our games industry.”
In February, members of the BAFTA Academy will vote on nominees in the Best International Game and Best British Game categories. After that, specialized juries will participate and vote in all other categories.
The long list includes the following games:
- “Assassin's Creed: Darkness”
- Battlefield 6,
- Donkey Kong Bananza,
- “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle”
- Hollow Knight: Silksong (we have “Silk Song”),
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,
- Send it.
Many of them are also vying for the artistic decision award, which has been added to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, “Ghost of Yotei”, “Charoscular: Expedition 33”, South of Midnight (“Tales of the South”), Sword of the Sea.
Academics will also name their favorites in the categories “Best Sound”, “Best Music”, “Entertainment”, “Family Game”, “Best Lead and Supporting Actors”, “Technical Achievement” and even “More than Entertainment”.
This award was established in 2004 to support innovative efforts in the field of video games. The nominations will be announced on 12 March 2026. The winner will be announced at the BAFTA Games Awards on 17 April.
