A rare prototype of the Asus RTX 3080 graphics card with 20GB of memory has appeared in China – although this version was never released to retail.

Content producer Seninno found some modified RTX 3080 20GB being sold by small vendors as “AI options.”
But there was one card that turned out to be especially curious: it had the original STRIX-RTX3080-20G designation, and the connectors and layout did not match the amateur modifications.
Analysis confirms the author is most likely an engineering sample or OEM batch, something NVIDIA and Asus have never released.

However, the state of the council is extremely sad. Signs of wear, replaced parts, new thermal paste, and a feeling that the card has seen a lot of use, perhaps in mining operations.
In AI tests, the card performed solidly, and the 20GB memory provided notable headroom compared to the standard 10GB RTX 3080. In games, VRAM also exceeds 16–17 GB at maximum settings, although fps drops to unacceptable levels.
