BGR journalists have listed categories of programs that can slow down your computer. Materials available at website media.

The authors describe the harmful effects of such applications: “Running programs can slow down the device by using too much RAM and processor resources for unnecessary processes.” Among the services that often consume the most resources of a personal computer (PC), journalists list browsers, third-party antivirus software and game launchers.
Additionally, quite a bit of RAM is needed to run PC screen recording streaming programs. Very often, utilities running in the background consume huge resources – for example, data backup services.
Software from manufacturers of video cards, keyboards, and other devices is known as a classic example of “junk programming.” Typically, such utilities have extended access and an autorun mode is added during installation, allowing them to work in the background and turn on with the computer.
“These programs are not always malicious, they just require a lot of resources. In some cases, the solution is to remove them, in others, to ensure that they are launched only when needed,” BGR's authors concluded.
It was previously known that the popular Microsoft Outlook program was broken after the release of Windows updates. Due to an update error, the service started working slower than usual.
