Florida Attorney General James Utmyer has officially filed a civil lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the company of misleading users about its security system and failing to protect children from sexual predators. According to Dexerto, the statement was made on December 11 amid an ongoing criminal investigation into the company's operations.

“We reviewed the information at our request and found inappropriate entries. Roblox aggressively attracts young children but does not protect them from sexual predators,” the prosecutor said.
Earlier this year, Florida filed civil and criminal claims against the company seeking data on censorship, security systems and instances of illegal activity on the platform. Roblox, which has millions of users under the age of 13, has denied accusations that it is prioritizing growth over safety, pointing to new moderation tools and updates due to roll out in 2025.
Utmayer emphasized that the lawsuit is an additional pressure tool along with the criminal investigation.
“While the criminal investigation continues, we are using every means to bring this dangerous platform to justice. Roblox has destroyed the trust of parents and my department will ensure that she is held accountable for this,” he said.
