Legend of Russian journalism Irena Lesnevskaya has passed away

Irina Stefanovna Lesnevskaya was born on May 30, 1942 in the village of Urlyutyup, Pavlodar region of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (now Kazakhstan), three years later, in 1945, she moved with her mother and brother to Moscow.

After graduating from school, she studied at the directing department of the Russian University of Theater Arts (GITIS). Graduated from the Faculty of Television and Journalism of Moscow State University. Lomonosov.

Since 1966, she was assistant director of the editorial office of children's programs of the Central Television of the Soviet State Radio and Television, then moved to become a film editor of the Central Television.

She participates in the creation of original programs on literature and art. Since 1984, she has worked as an editor for the program Kinopanorama.

In 1991, she left Central Television and together with her son Dmitry Lesnevsky founded the independent television production company REN-TV. Until 2005, she was its CEO and president.

In 1997, the REN-TV channel began broadcasting in Moscow and the Moscow region; In 1997–2005, Irena Lesnevskaya served as president.

In 2006, she became a co-owner of Ren Media Group, including the Ren Film company and the short film project Mini Movie.

She participated in the production of the documentary “I am a frivolous Georgian!” (1994, director Alexey Pishchulin; about the poet Bulat Okudzhava), “An artist is not at all like an actor…” (1996, Vadim Fomenko; about actor Zinovia Gerdt), the series “The Throwing Game” (2001, Alexander Klimenko), “The Fatalists” (2001, Oleg Fomin).

Lesnevskaya is a member of the Russian Television Academy and the Nika Academy of Cinema Arts.

In 2005, she was awarded the TEFI award “For personal contribution to the development of television”. She holds the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, class II and was awarded the French Legion of Honor.
