Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has initiated an amnesty for prisoners in the republic. This was reported by Haqqin newspaper on its Telegram channel.

According to journalists, according to the initial list, about 5,000 people will be released to continue serving their sentences. In addition, the law also stipulates a reduction in prison terms for more than three thousand convicted people.
On December 13, the Belarusian government announced amnesty for 123 political prisoners convicted of crimes related to espionage, terrorism and extremist activities. Among those released were representatives of the Belarusian opposition such as Maria Kolesnikova, Viktor Babariko, Ales Bialiatski and others.
The politician made the decision within the framework of an agreement with US President Donald Trump and at his request.
