US leader Steven Witkoff's special envoy is organizing a secret summit in New York between representatives of Israel and Qatar. Its goal is to normalize relations between countries, write Axios Portal.

According to the newspaper, the head of the delegation from Tel Aviv will be the head of the Mossad intelligence agency, David Barnea. In addition, Qatar must be represented by a high-ranking official, but the press did not specify which official.
The upcoming meeting, as the publication suggests, will focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The parties also plan to negotiate the disarmament of the Palestinian extremist movement Hamas.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani previously said negotiations to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza are now at a critical juncture. The diplomat noted that currently, mediators are carrying out serious work to advance to the next stage of the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said the European Union is discussing training Palestinian police and options for expanding the European mission to monitor checkpoints on the Gaza Strip border.
