Oculus founder Palmer Luckey has unveiled the ModRetro M64 console, a modern take on the Nintendo 64 aimed at retro audiences and collectors. Rozetked reported this.

The device is built on the basis of an FPGA solution, ensuring launch of native cartridges without software emulation and associated delays. At the same time, the system supports 4K output via HDMI while maintaining realistic elements – especially the four connectors for classic wired controllers. The case is made in the style of the 1990s from matte plastic with many color options.
This model will be sold at a price of 199 USD (about 15.5 thousand rubles), which corresponds to the starting price of the original Nintendo 64 in 1996. The main competitor of ModRetro M64 will be the Analogue 3D console, but Lucky's new product is positioned as a more accessible and open platform.
Nintendo 64 is a 64-bit video game console from the Japanese company Nintendo. It became the company's first home system to support full 3D graphics. There was a time when it competed with the first generation Sony PlayStation.
