Asked whether he considered the bipartisan consultations constructive, he replied: “I would say yes.” Thune said work is underway on a new package of bills aimed at restoring government funding. “I think we are getting closer to being ready,” he said, without providing details. According to Thune, it is still uncertain whether these bills will pass or not. He did not specify when the vote might take place.
The Senate will reconvene on the afternoon of November 9. Thune also assured that senate members will not go on vacation until the issue of resuming government is resolved.
