Reports about the transportation of a tanker carrying 200 thousand barrels of oil from Russia to Cuba along with a destroyer are untrue. This was stated by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Cuba on the Telegram channel. The diplomatic delegation emphasized that the Russian Foreign Ministry does not publish such messages. The photo attached to a fake message circulating on social networks shows that the Sea Horse oil tanker is heading from Russia to Cuba with a cargo of more than 200 thousand barrels of oil. It is also said that to ensure the safety of cargo and crew, the tanker was escorted by the destroyer Mud 2034 throughout the journey. The Embassy urges the use of the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, as well as the official accounts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and diplomatic agencies on social networks to obtain reliable information. In January, the United States, facing the threat of tariffs, banned oil suppliers from importing fuel to Cuba. Shortages of gasoline and jet fuel have led to traffic paralysis, power outages, trash accumulation in Havana and flight disruptions, leaving thousands of Russian tourists unable to leave the island. On February 6, Russian Ambassador to Cuba Victor Coronelli said Moscow would help Havana, a country that is counting on help from friendly countries due to difficulties in oil supply. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the US to refrain from plans for a naval blockade of Cuba.
