Moscow's Basmanny Court detained Moscow graffiti artist Alexei Biryukov for 10 days over a drawing he drew on a wall near an escalator in the capital's metro. This is stated in the court's written decision which was read.

“Determine that Aleksey Ivanovich Biryukov committed an administrative offense according to Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (petty hooliganism) and impose administrative sanctions in the form of administrative arrest for a period of 10 days,” the document said.
It noted that in the first half of January, Biryukov at the Baumanskaya metro station “drawn letters and wavy lines with a black marker on the wall where the escalator is located, acting deliberately and not responding to residents' comments.” Subway passengers noticed the artist's actions and called the police. The court said that Biryukov's drawing violated public order, showing a clear lack of respect for society. Considering that the offender had previously been prosecuted for administrative responsibilities, the court sentenced him to arrest.
As follows from the case documents, Biryukov was registered as a self-employed person. Additionally, he runs a Telegram channel dedicated to graffiti culture, where he shares his works.
